2019 Volkswagen Atlas S trim features

When Volkswagen released the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas, it was clear that the automaker held nothing back. The three-row SUV segment is a competitive one, so it only made sense to focus hard on being better than the competition. For this reason, you might think there isn’t much to change for the second year Atlas, but 2019 does bring some new features to the base trim level S. This is a popular choice for many shoppers because it’s the most affordable and the only trim to offer both the 4-cylinder and V6 engines.

The 2019 VW Atlas has a total of seven trims: S, SE, SE w/ Technology, SE w/ Technology R-Line, SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium. Clearly, the S is just the start and is outfitted with what Volkswagen considers to be the most important and necessary features, in addition to everyday conveniences.

One thing that shouldn’t be considered a luxury is safety and driver assistance features go a long way toward reducing automotive accidents. For this reason, Volkswagen has made Front Assist, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Traffic Alert standard in all models. Front Assist includes Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking. The features work by using sensors in the front of the vehicle to measure distance and when an object, such as another vehicle, is coming up too fast, Forward Collision Warning triggers audible and visual warnings to alert the driver to reduce speed or brake. Automatic Emergency Braking is triggered if the driver fails to heed these warnings, but it should be noted that the system may reduce damage and injury, but won’t always completely prevent a collision. Speed and other factors play an enormous role.
